Every time I visit Nice, France, I am overcome by a long-missed sense of relaxation. Unlike Paris, there is no rush or clamor here, nor the stressful congestion typical of a major metropolis. Sunlight spills across the French Riviera, and the sea breeze whispers gently through the palm trees; the entire city seems immersed in an atmosphere of leisure and romance.

For a perfect trip, a hotel is often more than just a place to sleep—it becomes an integral part of the journey itself. A comfortable and pleasant stay can make a travel experience truly unforgettable.

Over the years, I have visited Nice many times and stayed in a variety of hotels. Some boast unrivaled ocean views, others exude an air of quintessential French elegance, while still others leave a lasting impression through their attentive service. Today, I would like to share five hotels in Nice that have left a deep impression on me, in the hope of offering some helpful recommendations to anyone planning a trip to the French Riviera.

The First: Hôtel Negresco

If there is one hotel that stands as the definitive icon of Nice, it is undoubtedly the Hôtel Negresco.

When I first laid eyes on it, I actually wondered if I had somehow stumbled into a royal palace.

Situated right alongside the famous Promenade des Anglais, the hotel is instantly recognizable by its iconic pink dome, visible from a great distance. As one of Nice’s most celebrated landmarks, it functions not merely as a hotel, but as a living art museum.

Upon checking in, I was immediately awestruck by the opulent décor of the lobby. Massive crystal chandeliers, soaring ceilings, and exquisite sculptures and oil paintings—every single corner exuded a palpable aura of French aristocratic grandeur.

I stayed in a guest room facing the Mediterranean Sea.

The moment I pushed open the balcony doors, the breathtaking vista before me held me captive; I simply could not bring myself to look away.

The azure sea stretched endlessly toward the horizon, waves lapped gently against the shore, and yachts glided leisurely across the water in the distance. Waking up in the early morning, sunlight streamed into the room through the floor-to-ceiling windows, bathing the entire space in a golden glow.

In the evening, I sat out on the balcony, watching as the lights along the coastline gradually began to twinkle to life, with the soothing sound of the waves washing over me—it was a sensation truly beyond words. Although the price isn’t exactly cheap, if you’re looking to experience the most classic and luxurious accommodations Nice has to offer, I believe this place absolutely deserves a spot on your list.

The Second Hotel: Hyatt Regency Nice Palais de la Méditerranée

In contrast to the classical grandeur of the Negresco, this hotel possesses a distinctly more modern aesthetic.

My first stay here was prompted by a friend’s recommendation, who claimed it offered one of the finest sea views in Nice.

The hotel is also situated right alongside the Promenade des Anglais—a truly prime location. It takes less than twenty minutes to reach from the airport.

Upon entering, the spacious and bright lobby immediately conveys a sense of both comfort and sophistication.

My favorite feature of the hotel is undoubtedly its infinity pool area.

The pool faces directly out toward the Mediterranean; while swimming, you feel as though you are merging seamlessly with the sea itself. That afternoon, I reclined on a sun lounger by the pool, watching the sunlight shimmer across the water and occasionally sipping on some chilled fruit juice—it felt as though time itself had slowed down.

The guest rooms feature an equally modern design.

Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows frame the seascape, allowing you to admire the stunning beauty of the Côte d’Azur without ever having to step outside.

One morning, I made a point of rising early to watch the sunrise.

As the first rays of light emerged from the horizon, the entire sky gradually transformed into a radiant golden hue. Standing at the window and gazing upon this scene, I felt as though all the fatigue from my travels simply melted away.

If you appreciate modern amenities combined with a spectacular seaside experience, this hotel is an excellent choice.

The Third Hotel: Hôtel La Pérouse Nice

This is a boutique hotel that truly took me by surprise—in the best possible way.

Its location is quite unique: perched on the rocky coastline at the foot of Castle Hill, it remains blissfully removed from the hustle and bustle of the main streets while still being just a stone’s throw away from the Old Town and the harbor.

When I first arrived, I felt as though I had stumbled upon a hidden gem—a secret sanctuary all my own.

Enveloped by lush greenery, the hotel exudes an authentic Mediterranean charm.

After checking in, I strolled along the terrace toward my room, treated to uninterrupted views of the azure sea and the picturesque harbor every step of the way.

My room featured a small private balcony.

Every morning, I would sit out there with my coffee, watching the pleasure boats glide slowly across the water below.

It was an experience entirely distinct from staying in the city center. Here, there is little of the clamor typically associated with tourists; instead, one finds an atmosphere of pure tranquility and relaxation.

One evening, I sat out on the terrace of the hotel restaurant, enjoying my dinner.

As the sun slowly dipped below the horizon, the sky shifted from gold to orange, gradually deepening into a rich crimson-violet. The entire bay was bathed in a soft, ethereal glow.

That dinner may not have been the most expensive meal of my trip, but it remains—in my memory—the most romantic one.

For those who appreciate a quiet environment and the distinct experience of a boutique hotel, this property is absolutely worth considering.

The Fourth Hotel: Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel

This is a hotel that seamlessly blends history with modernity.

Following a comprehensive renovation, the hotel has been completely revitalized, yet it retains every bit of the elegant charm inherent in classic French architecture.

From the moment I first checked in, I was captivated by its exquisite design.

Whether in the lobby, the restaurant, or the guest rooms, the entire property exudes an atmosphere of understated sophistication.

What left the most lasting impression on me, however, was the hotel’s rooftop terrace.

As evening fell, I made my way up there to take in the panoramic views of Nice.

To my left lay the azure expanse of the Côte d’Azur; to my right, the Old Town with its distinctive red-tiled rooftops; and in the distance, the rolling hills stretched out before me.

As night descended and the city lights began to twinkle to life, the entirety of Nice seemed to transform into a romantic, living masterpiece.

The hotel’s breakfast also left a deep impression on me.

Freshly baked croissants, fine French cheeses, local fruits, and freshly ground coffee—every single item was prepared with exquisite care.

Sometimes, the greatest simple pleasure while traveling is simply sitting back on a sunny morning and slowly savoring a sumptuous breakfast.

This hotel offers precisely that kind of experience.

The Fifth Hotel: Le Méridien Nice

If I were asked to recommend a hotel that offers excellent value, stunning views, and a convenient location, my choice would undoubtedly be Le Méridien.

The hotel is situated right along the Promenade des Anglais, placing it within easy walking distance of both the Old Town and the city’s commercial center.

For first-time visitors to Nice, such a central location is incredibly convenient.

During my first stay, I had booked a room with a partial sea view.

I hadn’t set my expectations particularly high, but the moment I drew back the curtains, I was absolutely stunned by the breathtaking scenery before me.

The azure coastline, the palm-lined promenade, and the distant mountain ranges—it was all laid out in a magnificent vista right before my eyes. The hotel’s most popular feature is its rooftop terrace.

It boasts not only a swimming pool but also a restaurant with panoramic views.

One evening, I made a special trip to the rooftop specifically to admire the night scenery.

A gentle sea breeze drifted by; in the distance, the lights of the harbor twinkled, while the entire Promenade des Anglais stretched into the distance like a luminous ribbon.

Sitting there, I suddenly understood why so many people fall in love with Nice.

It is because this place offers not merely enchanting scenery, but—more importantly—a lifestyle that encourages you to slow down and savor the present moment.

I look forward to my next reunion with Nice
